For many years, a nagging affirmation associates corruption and Africa. To say the least, that assertion, though interesting, may be excessive. Indeed, the world over, there is lesser tolerance for corruption.

Hence, the merit of the President of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, for putting corruption on the Agenda of the last Summit of that Organization.

While evolving, the terrorist threat still remains pervasive. To defeat it, the international response should last and keep adapting. Who will win the Sahel Marathon will depend on the successful management of several military and political issues while paying due attention to the environmental dynamics.

In the recent months, specific or mixed interests, political, military as well as economic have emerged in the Sahel. Today, on the ground, the big challenge is how to handle that new reality. Everything moves fast in the Sahel though in different directions. Centralization of efforts at the Sahel states levels including at their partners’, decentralization at the armed groups and their ‘’dormant companions’’ levels and, finally uncontrolled migrations that do not exclude manipulations.

Regularly disappointed, frequently frustrated and always enthusiastic, interested African public opinion expects again miracles from its continental Organization. Playing the game, the Continent's external partners are showing the same enthusiasm. That association of fatalism and high expectations as well as the fatigue in the face of many unmet ambitions, have ultimately disconnected African problems from the reality surrounding them.
